In Japan, the provider of eduroam is the Japanese National Institute of Informatics (NII). Anyone who has eduroam account as a student, a faculty\/staff member from a participating institution can connect to the eduroam network available on campus.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Connect to eduroam<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>In case KIT faculty\/staff member and students use eduroam network in other eduroam organizations<\/h3>\n<p>Those who meet any of the following conditions can apply:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>@kit.ac.jp domain (For Faculty\/staff members)<\/li>\n<li>@edu.kit.ac.jp domain (For Students<font color=\"#ff0000\">\u203b<\/font>)<br \/>\n<font color=\"#ff0000\">\u203b<\/font>Graduate students(Master&#8217;s Programs, Doctoral Programs) can apply. If you are undergraduate students, you need to belong to your laboratory.<\/li>\n<li>@jim.kit.ac.jp domain (For office staff members)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Follow the steps below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply via <a href=\"https:\/\/jira.cis.kit.ac.jp\/servicedesk\/customer\/portal\/10\/create\/130\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cis.kit.ac.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/icon\/icon.jpg\"\/>the online application<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>In case faculty\/staff member and students in other eduroam organizations use eduroam network at KIT<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are researchers, teachers, students, staff from eduroam participating institutions, you need to complete any procedures at your own institution before visiting KIT.<\/li>\n<li>If you are NOT researchers, teachers, students, staff from GakuNin participants, you need to visit <a href=\"https:\/\/federated-id.eduroam.jp\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cis.kit.ac.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/icon\/icon.jpg\"\/>Federated ID Service<\/a> and obtain your ID\/Password.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Permitted traffic<\/h2>\n<p>You <font color=\"#ff0000\">cannot<\/font> access the resources such as websites that are only accessible within KIT.<font color=\"#ff0000\">\u203b<\/font><\/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Web<br \/>HTTP (80\/tcp)<br \/>HTTPS (443\/tcp)<\/li>\n<li>Mail<br \/>SMTPS (465\/tcp)<br \/>submission (587\/tcp)<br \/>IMAPS (993\/tcp)<br \/>POPS (995\/tcp)<\/li>\n<li>Live Streaming<br \/>Ustream, Niconico Live (843\/tcp, 1935\/tcp, 2805-2899\/tcp, 6660-6669\/tcp)<\/li>\n<li>VPN<br \/>SSH (22\/tcp)<br \/>PPTP (GRE, 1723\/udp)<br \/>IPsec (AH, ESP, 500\/udp, 4500\/udp)<br \/>OpenVPN (1194\/tcp, 1194\/udp)<br \/>L2TP (1701\/tcp, 1701\/udp)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><font color=\"#ff0000\">\u203b<\/font>KIT members who have made <a href=\"https:\/\/vpnv.cis.kit.ac.jp\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cis.kit.ac.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/icon\/icon.jpg\"\/>SSL-VPN<\/a> availavle can access to the internal-only resources by using it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>eduroam(education roaming) services started originally under TERENA in Europe, and now is accepted by the research and education community as the de-facto standard for Wi-Fi.
