[Important] Implementation of Multi-Factor Authentication for Email and Its Mandatory Use – Effective November 1, 2024
Thank you for using the KIT email system.
As of November 1, 2024, KIT has implemented multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all KIT email users. As a result, 
the November 14, 2023 notice entitled, “[Important Security Breach Prevention Measure] Restrictions on Remote Access Software Use “ is no longer relevant.
Although sending email from devices connected to external networks or eduroam is no longer restricted, multi-factor authentication is now required when logging into the KIT email system.
If you wish to send email from an external network or a device connected to eduroam and have not yet set up multi-factor authentication, please refer to the September 30, 2024 notice entitled, “[Important] Implementation of Multi-Factor Authentication for Email and Its Mandatory Use – Effective November 1, 2024” and complete the registration process.
Implementation:
・Change in Policy: Withdrawal of restrictions on sending emails from external networks and devices connected to Eduroam
・Effective as of: November21, 2024
Summary of Important Points:
・After November 1, multi-factor authentication will still be required when logging into the email system from external networks or Eduroam-connected devices.
・Be aware that as cloud-based email applications (Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and newer versions of Outlook, etc.) do not support the KIT multi-factor authentication system, they cannot be used from on-campus or off-campus networks.
