Video Conferencing System(Webex)

Our university provides a videoconferencing system that can be used for remote lectures and other purposes.

  • Cisco Webex Video Conferencing System

    Cisco Webex is a cloud-based video conferencing system provided by Cisco. With servers distributed worldwide, it offers stable connectivity even for international connections. No client software installation is required on endpoints, enabling one-to-many video conferences from a single meeting room. Connections are possible not only between PCs but also from smartphones and H.323/SIP endpoints. Participation via telephone is also available, though this is audio-only.

  • Available Services

    Cisco Webex offers several services, and our university’s contract allows access to all of them. Each has its own features, so please use them according to your specific needs.

    【Faculty and staff】

    Features
    Webex Meetings For so-called TV conferencing. Enables document and screen sharing and recording.
    Supports up to 1,000 connections and up to 200 hardware devices (such as Polycom).
    Webex Training For remote lectures. Connections from hardware devices (such as Polycom) are not permitted.
    Supports up to 1,000 participants. In addition to document sharing, it offers basic LMS features like quizzes and tests.
    Webex Events For large-scale events. Distinguishes permissions between participants and presenters/organizers, including forced muting of participants and prohibiting the display of materials. Supports up to 1,000 participants.
    Webex Support For support desks. Enables remote operation and information retrieval on participant PCs.
    Supports up to 5 participants per session, with a maximum of 8 sessions.
    Webex For support desks. Enables remote operation and information retrieval on participant PCs.
    Supports up to 5 participants per session, with a maximum of 8 sessions.

  • Scope of Use

    Organizer (meeting schedule/start): Faculty, staff, and students of this university
    *When students organize meetings,Operational Policy and Guidelines(For internal use only) Please confirm before using.
    Participants: No restrictions

    *The organizer can host only one meeting at a time.

    (It is possible to set another participant as a co-host during a meeting you are hosting. Even if the co-host starts the meeting, it will use the license of the scheduled host.)

    *Recording File Retention Period and Storage Capacity

    • As of the current contract (April 2021), there is no upper limit on storage capacity. However, files older than one year may be deleted sequentially, so please ensure you back up any necessary files yourself.em>Please note that once deleted, recorded files cannot be restored.

    *We have prepared a course titled「For Faculty Using Webex for the First Time」 (login required) on Moodle. This course contains various procedure manuals and tip collections. We also accept questions via the “Submit Your Questions Here” section on Moodle, so please feel free to use that as well.
